You can only imagine the dirt and germs that are collected underneath your shoes as you walk from your car, through the parking lot, down the passage, into the bathroom and then to the mat. It is at this point where you part way with your beloved shoes and go barefoot onto the mat with your squeaky clean feet. Here are some suggestions to ensure you are not “that guy” on the mat who has smelly feet.
.Wash your feet before class and step into clean open sandals. Your feet have likely been in warm, cosy, sweaty shoes all day so give them some love and wash them down
.Moisturise your feet to avoid dry cracks which can become a nice home for germs. Your opponent will also appreciate not being scrubbed by dry heals.
.Keep your toenails short, smooth and clean. Your training partner doesn’t want to lose small chunks of their body or leave with scratches.
.Step directly into your sandals when leaving the mat to avoid picking up dirt and germs before returning to your training session.
